How Skillora works
Skillora helps you find a skilled person near you, check them, and agree the work. It is free and does not take payments: you pay the provider directly, as you agree.
For customers
- Search near you. Press "Use my location" or type a town, area or landmark. Choose the service and how far to look.
- Compare. Results are ordered by a balance of distance, how well the provider matches, availability, reviews, checked credentials and how quickly they reply. Each card says why it is shown.
- Check the profile. Work photos, the skills passport, verified-job reviews and badges that say exactly what Skillora checked.
- Request the service. Describe the job and add photos. The provider accepts or declines, and sends a quotation (or an offer of terms for domestic work).
- Agree and schedule. Accept the quotation, then set the time. Chat inside Skillora; share your phone number only if you want to.
- Complete and review. Mark the job done, then rate it. Only customers with a completed job can review, so reviews stay honest.
- Recommend. Share good providers with friends and family through a link.
For providers
- Create a free profile: your services and skills, where you work and how far you travel, your hours and prices.
- Upload photos of your work and the documents you have (identity, certificates, licences). Staff check them and add badges.
- Answer requests quickly, send quotations, and keep your availability up to date. Fast, reliable answers help you appear higher.
Different services, different steps
Each service follows the workflow that suits it:
- Standard service (request, quotation, schedule)
- Emergency repair (fast answer, quotation optional)
- Domestic work (terms of engagement, trial, references)
- Childcare (identity check, references, safeguarding)
- Healthcare and caregiving (licence checked before listing)
- Tutoring and training (sessions, safeguarding for minors)
The steps of a job
Submitted → Accepted (or Declined) → Quotation sent → Quotation accepted → Scheduled → In progress → Completed → Reviewed. A job can also be cancelled before work starts, expire if nobody answers in time, or go to a dispute that Skillora staff help to settle. Every step is recorded in the job's history.
