CITYORA

Privacy notice

How Cityora handles personal data. Version 2026-10-29.

Who is responsible

Each city that uses Cityora is responsible for the reports made to it. Studio 13 Developers runs the platform for the city. Contact the city through its service desk, or write to cityora@studio13developers.com.

What we collect and why

  • Account details (name, email, optional phone number) to sign you in and to send the updates you choose.
  • Your reports: category, description, photos and the place you mark, so the city can find and fix the problem. Photos are re-saved without their hidden data (such as the phone's GPS position).
  • Messages between you and the city about your reports.
  • Security records such as sign-in times and the internet address used, to protect accounts and keep an audit trail.

Who sees it

Only city staff whose work needs it: the service desk, the responsible department, the assigned team or contractor, and authorised auditors. Field teams see your name and phone number only if you allow it in your privacy settings. When staff open a reporter's contact details, it is recorded. The public map shows reports only as approximate squares, never names, descriptions or photos.

How long we keep it

Reports are public-service records and are kept as long as the city's records policy requires. If you delete your account, your name, email, phone number and password are removed and your reports stay with the city without any link to you.

Your rights

You can download your data and delete your account from Account and privacy (steps: deleting your account), change which messages you receive, and ask the city to correct wrong information. In Uganda these rights come from the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019; you may also complain to the Personal Data Protection Office.

Messages

Updates are shown in the app and on the website. Email, SMS and push messages are sent only if you turn them on and the city has set up that service.
